When I visited Rome earlier this year, I walked something like 20 miles in two days. That’s all the time I had, and I didn’t want to waste a second. After all, Rome’s vibrant neighborhoods, spectacular ruins and prevalence of sixteenth and seventeenth century buildings make it the perfect city for wandering – my favorite way to travel. Here are the (probable) homes that most intrigued me. Wouldn’t it be wild to live in a space (above) with a view of the Colosseum? For the first couple weeks, at least. Then it probably gets pretty ordinary.

I sat on that bench and enjoyed a cup of gelato, cream with a hint of lemon. The magazine place in the background carried the New Yorker, but it cost something like $20.

If I had to live in a house that had been graffitied, this looks like a good one.

This place is in Vatican City, which had a very cool salvage shop. Naturally their inventory looked a bit older than the readily available goods at our excellent showrooms.

Very cool huh?

They will retire to the country but remember fondly the sound of the motorcycles speeding under their guest bedroom.
